This was a pre season game between the Havering Bengals and the Old Timers. A total of 15 players came along and with the Cardinal players having trained for several weeks it looked quite a challenge. They had been training both indoors and outdoors with the help of Andy, Peter and the older Bengals. Tim went on to pitch and there were 9 SO’S. Hits of the game included Andy 3B,Tony 2B 3S Norman 2 S, Mike 1S, Alan 1 S. R.B.I’S FROM Norman, Tim Tony (3), Andy (3), Ray, (1), Alan, (1) and Pete (1). However they managed to do better.

TONBRIDGE BOBCATS V OLD TIMERS
Today we traveled to Tonbridge with a reduced number of players. Terry was unwell and George took over as team manager. Tim and George were pitchers for the day with a total of 9 SO’S between them We had a total of 16 hits with singles from Tony (2), Phil (1), Mike (4), Tim (1), Alan (3), George (2), Peter (2) and Darryl (1). There were 22 RBI’S fro Mike, Phil, Tim, Alan, George, Darryl, Peter, and Norman.

HAVERING BENGALS V OLD TIMERS
Today it was to play the friendly scheduled game at Havering. Our pitchers again were Tim and George with a total of 7 SO’S. We had a guest player today Brian Clarke from Milton Keynes who hopefully will join the Old Timers in the not too distant future. There were a total of 8 hits from the players. Adrian had a 2b hit with singles from Mike (2), Tim (1), Tony (3) and George (1). We had our first double play of the season between George and Brian. Today Brian played in centre field where he did an excellent job. Hopefully he enjoyed himself and we look forward to seeing him again.

BURGESS HILL COLTS V OLD TIMERS
Good turnout of players and team looked good as we lined up against Burgess Hill. Barry Mayfield came along to play for us today and so good to have him on the team. Every one was so pleased to see him and their faces expressed their feelings. George pitched for 8 innings and Mike one. There were 19 hits in the game including our first HOME RUNS. ANDY recorded the first bringing in 3 runs in the second innings .In the third inning another home run from ADRIAN. Well done to the two of you.
Hits in the game were 2B’S from Norman (1), Mike (2), George (1), and singles from Norman (1), Mike (2), Andy (1), George (4), Barry (1), Alan (2), Colin (1), and Rob (1). We had a total of 23 RBI’s and a very enjoyable game to watch.

Havering again to play the Bengals and it looked like it could be a tough game. They were out to win this time.
George and Tim were our pitchers for the day and had 12 SO’S between them.
Hits were fewer today with only a total of 9 in the game. 3B hits from Norman (1) and Tim (1), with singles from Mike (1), Tim (1), George (2), Peter (2), and Rob (1). We had 14 RBI’s. The Bengals were definitely out to win and Andy their manager even took a turn at bat although the previous day he had suffered a blow to the chest which resulted in cracked ribs.

TONBRIDGE BOBCATS V OLD TIMERS
The sun was shining and it looked like it would be a pleasant afternoon. As well as our usual supporters there were to others coming. It was to be a real family event. Colleen Tim’s wife was there to cheer us on. Claire the eldest daughter of Tony and Lyle was there with her daughter Emily and Claire’s new partner.
Tracy second daughter of Pete and Jean was there with her husband Simon and son Bradley. Leigh Crook with her two daughters Samantha and Amy as well the latest addition to her family a lively Stafford Bull Terrier all enjoying the sun and a very strong wind. The team welcomed the support that was given to them.
Pitcher today was Tim who pitched seven complete innings and had 6 SO’S. I recorded 16 hits with a 3b hit from Tony 2b hit from Mike (1), Tim (1) and singles from Mike (1), Tony (1), George (4), Phil (1), Colin (1), Alan (1), Peter (1), Adrian (2) and Rob (1).
Tonbridge called the game after the top of the 8th due to a couple of injuries to their players. We also suffered injuries with George pulling his Hamstring and Alan with bruising on his leg, as well as a blow to the chest resulting in a cracked rib. This means Alan is out of action for several weeks as to George who has to rest his leg.

OLD TIMERS V BURGESS HILL
Today the Redhats visited Enfield. George out of action with injuries and Norman on holiday and Tim away we invited members of the Southend Peers to play as guest players. Pitchers today were Tony and Mike There was a total of 11 hits. Barry (2s), Mike (2s), Tony (2s), Peter (4s) and Gavin (1s). 25 R.B.I were batted in. Double play Barry and Peter.

Played at our home ground at Enfield. Still injuries and other players on holiday our guest players from Southend once more came to our rescue. Pitchers today were Tony and Tim. We had a total of 10 hits. Tim (2b), George (2b), singles from Tony (1), John Turpin (2), Rob (1), Dave Twist (2), Daryl (1) and Colin (2). New recruit today Ian Cairns who has decided to join the Old Timers. Welcome to Ian an avid follower of baseball in the U.S. where he worked for several years.

At Romford today a return match against the Bengals. Today was to be Tim’s last game and we knew it would be a hard game. Havering’s team include a good squad of youngsters who play hard and want to win. George as acting manager in Terry’s absence decided to put Tim in as our pitcher. Daryl had a great hit a HOME RUN no less. There were hits from Norman, Simon Turpin, John Turpin, Tim Rob and Adrian. Daniel Crescenti also played for us.

At Enfield with George pitching and Graham Moorcroft as his D/H the game commenced. There were six S.O’s in the game and 14 hits. Tony scored a HOME RUN plus 1 s Norman 4s, Barry 1 2b, 1s, Daryl 1 2b1s, Graham 2s, Colin 1s, Dave1s and Ian 1s. 21 R.B.I’S. Peter unable to play due to knee problem so Barry and Rob both played a 1st base part of the game.

At Enfield and a home game for the Old Timers. Today’s pitchers were George and Tony. 8 SO’S 27 P.O.’S 13 A’S where 14 of them were credited to Mike Harrold. Good baseball Mike. There were 12 hits Norman (1s), Tony (1 2b2s), Mike (2s), John Turpin (1 2b1s), Gavin 1s, Ian 2b, Adrian 1s and Colin 1s. 3 sets of double plays Barry-Norman-Gavin, Mike-Gavin, Gavin-Mike –Laing.

HAVERING BENGALS V OLD TIMERS
Too hot and certainly not a day for sitting around in the blazing sun but we did Hilary Harrold a faithful supporter and Jean a hot and sticky scorer. With only 5 Old Timers and Pete coaching we had to rely on our faithful Daryl and the Southend lads. The Havering lads were keen and all set to go. Pitching by George with SAM his designated hitter we went up to bat. 7 hits for the day 2s from Simon Turpin, 1s from Mike, 1 2b 2s from John Turpin, Gavin 1s. Double play Mike –Rob. Good catches from George, John Gavin Mike and Colin. Well done to all players for a good game despite the heat.
