The Old Timers played on Sunday 02/03/06 at Romford against the Romford Cardinals in a pre season game. The team consisted of 10 players two of whom were pretty jet lagged as having flown home from Arizona on the Saturday afternoon. New manager Pete Crook made up the line up and some players had a slight change from their normal positions. All players played very well especially in the very muddy and boggy conditions as well as rain and sleet. Andy did a good at catching. The other players Gary at 3rd base, Rob at 2nd and then left field while our pitchers George, Paul and Pete Barratt kept up the good work. Brian, Alan Colin and Pete worked hard too and with due credit to them all.
The final score was Romford Cardinals 14 Old Timers 18.

Good enjoyable game with no bad feelings, everyone enjoyed it. There were plenty of at bats for all with some good hits. Pitchers today were George and Steve Simmons. Steve also caught and then Gary took over. Everyone did well and it was an enjoyable game to watch, no hassle no rows and umpire John Dornin did good job. Thank you to everyone who came along players and supporters.

Cliff hanger of a game at top of 9th we were level 16 -16. Our three batters up were Gary who hit a 3b, and stole home on a fielders choice from Colin. Aaron went in to pitch and struck out  the first batter, 2nd batter got to base on an error, but on the next batter was out at 2nd base. 3rd batter singled and 4th batter became the 3rd out Strike out.

Well done to all players George Simmons Paul Raybould, Aaron Sneesby, Peter Crook, Peter Barratt, Brian Currier, John Thomas, Phil Laing, Rob Walker, Gary Liston, Colin Ramsell and Andy Walker. Well done lads very proud of you all.

Medway Mariners  14  V  Old Timers  13

We knew it would be a tough game this Sunday and with several of our more experienced players unavailable we went into it full steam ahead. 4 runs in the first innings looked good but a few errors later cost us dearly and by the end it was 13-5 to Medway. However we had some hits with singles from Gary, Paul and George doubles from Paul, Brian Peter B, Ian and a HOME RUN from Justin we managed to tie the score in the 8th inning. However in the 9th they managed to score another run and the final score was Medway Mariners 14 Old Timers 13. Well done to all those there and for the excellent support from Justin’s family and friends.

Old Timers  24  Romford  23

Today we played Romford as Medway Mariners not able to field a team. Nice to see John Turpin with Romford although think he makes a better Old Timer. Good turn out of players for Old Timers and our two new Timers Steve Lloyd and Billy Gibney. Steve Simmons had an excellent HOME RUN which brought home THREE runs, well done Steve. Thank you to John Dornin for umpiring did a good job. Well done to all who came, there were some errors but we enjoyed it. We wish a Happy Birthday to Colin and welcome to CATHY and Pat from the U.S.A, a couple who Colin Pete and Andy met on a baseball trip to Florida and Arizona. Thank you to all players and supporters for being there today and doing their best. Jean

Havering  16  V  Old Timers  6

It was a tough game as many of our stronger players were unavailable and the Havering lads are faster, younger and more powerful hitters. We had three rookie players Billy, Steve and Andy, with back up from George, Steve Simmons, Mike, Gary Colin and John Thomas. They did very well and played 7 innings. Final Score was HAVERING 16 Old Timers 6. A big thank you must go to Dan Long for volunteering to do the umpiring from behind the mound. Final game of season next Sunday at Guildford.
