Herts Raptors 8 v Old Timers 18
Today we were travelling the M1 to Hemel to play the third team of the Herts Group. There was a game in progress when we arrived and several of that team stayed behind to play for the Herts Raptors. We had a new player coming along that day John Dodd an Australian teaching over here and he had been watching a game previously at Milton Keynes and had spoken to Steve Simmons who advised him to give me a ring which he did. He went in at the Top 5th and did okay. My thanks to Steve as John has proved to be a useful addition to the team. Braintree Rays 13 v Old Timers 23
Today’s game at Enfield was the postponed game against Braintree Rays on 29th April. It was their home game and although the Old Timers had only 9 men at the start it was an enjoyable game. Some good hits and plays by the team A special mention to Billy for working hard as catcher and Colin for bringing in 3 runs. Tony too for coming after a family Christening, Mike Foley after a after midnight flight from Spain and John Dodd still working hard in spite of a ongoing groin injury. Thank you all for being there Paul, George, Rob, Steve Chandler, Peter Barratt you all did a great job and I appreciate you all.
Final Score Braintree Rays 13 Old Timers 23 Game ended after bottom of 7th with slaughter rule.
I must mention John Dornin who came along as a spectator and ended up coaching first base.
