Welcome to 2008

“Our days of competing are long gone - we just play to have some fun”

It’s that time of year again to brush the dirt and dust off the old baseball glove and start stretching that arm in preparation for the new season. We at the Old Timers Baseball Club wish you and your team much success for the 2008 season.

For those of you who don’t know much about us, OTBC was formed in 1988 to give retired players the opportunity to sling the ball around in a friendly and non-competitive environment. For many years we played ad-hoc exhibition games against teams from all over the country and have also travelled to Europe to participant in a variety of friendly tournaments. In recent years, we’ve formed our own Friendly League that includes “rookie” teams who are not quite ready for the demands of the BBF.

As affiliated members and supporters of the BBF, we recognise the importance of being a part of the governing body for the sport in this country. We believe we offer the BBF a service in preparing new teams to eventually play in competitive leagues in addition to the “novelty” publicity we create for the game. As well as giving the new teams a game to ‘blood’ their players or experiment with new pitchers, etc, we provide free on the field coaching - before, during, and after the game. We might not be physically capable of throwing the ball hard anymore, but we can still remember the right technique.

If you’ve got a new team this year or have got a bunch of new players and you’re not sure of forming a full team, why not give us a call right now to arrange a game or two. We have our own first class playing field in Enfield, north London or we can come to your place. A Saturday game would also be considered. Win or lose, one thing’s for certain – we’ll all have a lot of fun.

ATTENTION all you semi-retired baseball players. WE NEED YOU!

Don't hang up your glove just yet. Get in touch and come and play for the team.

As long as you are 40 or over then we are looking for a few more players.
